Frequently asked questions

Do I need a new referral?

  • GP referrals are valid for 12 months from the date of the first specialist appointment.

  • Specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.

  • Your GP may provide an indefinite referral, which remains valid while your specialist continues to practise at the location specified on the referral.

Is parking available? 

Yes. Parking options include:

  • Street parking along Wallace Street

  • A car park with 10 parking bays located directly outside the clinic on Wallace Street (please note these bays have a 2hr limit)

Please allow sufficient time to find parking before your appointment.

Are there any medicare rebates available?

Eligible patients will receive a Medicare rebate.

  • The applicable Medicare rebate will be advised when you book your appointment.

  • Please note that we do not offer pension card discounts.

  • Private health rebates are not available as we are a outpatient service 

How should I prepare for my appointment?

To help your appointment run smoothly, please:

  • Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to ensure any paperwork can be completed

  • Bring a valid referral, if required.

How long are consultations?

Consultation times vary depending on the type of appointment:

  • Initial consultation: Approximately 45 minutes

  • Review consultation: Approximately 20 minutes

Please allow extra time in case your specialist requires additional assessment or testing.

What should I bring to my sleep review appointment?

If you are attending a sleep review and use a CPAP machine, please email your CPAP download/report to the clinic before your appointment or bring a copy with you on the day.​

Is Allergy First part of Wallace Street Specialist Centre?

No. Allergy First is a separate medical practice that operates from the same premises as Wallace Street Specialist Centre.

  • If you have an appointment with Allergy First, please ensure you are booked with the correct practice.

  • Allergy First phone: 1300 255 371

How do I prepare for Lung Function testing?

  • Refrain from taking any inhalers/puffers 4hrs prior

  • Refrain from smoking prior to appointment

  • No specific clothing is required for lung function testing.
